We decided to take a brief trip down to Monterey to get away from the cycle of doctor appointments, labs, meds, nausea, appetite issues, feeling tired and sick. When not at Kaiser, we're usually home.

The Monterey trip coincided with a short window of time when we were both off chemo at the same time. We thought if we were lucky, we'd be feeling good enough to maybe even take a few hikes and do some photographing. The weather was spectacular, the traffic horrendous, but we did manage to have a pretty good time. It's hard to totally get away- the cloud still hovers around us. We try to live each moment but, as one of our friends said, Sometimes you'd like to trade out some of those moments.

We now head into another round of chemo, etc. etc. But, we did get invigorated by getting out into nature. Our favorite thing.
